Neighbors Saddened by Boy Who Drowned in River

A seven year old boy was pulled out of the Petawawa River last weekend and his body was found after he inadvertently and unexpectedly drowned. His body was found floating on the river near Summit Trail in central Petawawa, Ontario and the adult that found him tried CPR to revive him to no avail. Ryan was pronounced dead in the hospital.

From the looks of it, the Ottawa Valley OPP Cons. Shawn Peever believes that Ryan slipped on some rocks and fell into the water while walking along the shore with his friend, who ran to get help from an adult when Ryan fell.

Everyone is distraught at the news and the tragedy that occurred, as Ryan was a very well-known child in his neighborhood. A resident that witnessed the whole thing hears sirens and people screaming, then saw numerous people running down the river and even has one Ryan’s age, so the news really scared and broke her heart.

Foul play so far hasn’t been any suspicion in the ordeal, as it just appears that the two children were having fun walking when the accident happened. Officials will be conducting a post-mortem autopsy however, which is of course suspected to be drowning. His family’s heart is also broken, as any mother would be in such a tragic incident with such a young and beautiful mind, and there has been a GoFundMe page that is set up to help Ryan’s family cover the cost of his funeral and procession if anyone is interested in donating.
