Ottawa's Tundra Semiconductor Corp. announced Wednesday that Mike Unger, a long-standing member of the company's board of directors, recently passed away after a short illness.

Mr. Unger served on Tundra's Board of Directors since 2001, after a long and successful career at Nortel Networks. His last role at Nortel was as president of their optical networks division.

As director of Tundra's business, and chair of the board's human resources, corporate governance and nominating committee, the company said in a release that "Mike demonstrated grace, balance, wisdom and good judgment in all that he did, and always had the best interests of Tundra's shareholders and employees in mind."

Adam Chowaniec, chair of Tundra's board, added: "It is with deep regret that we announce this loss. Mike was a successful business leader, a source of wise counsel, and a respected colleague.

"Tundra will miss the contribution that Mike made over the last 7 years to its business, and on a personal note I will miss the integrity and positive approach that Mike imparted in all that he did."

Mr. Unger was 67 years old. He passed away June 28, 2008.
