Mxi's Maintenix helps private jet company cut paper shuffle

Mxi Technologies has helped a private jet management company go paperless with its Maintenix software.

The Ottawa-based aviation maintenance management software maker said Executive Jet Management (EJM), a Cincinnati, Ohio-based subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway's NetJets business, had successfully gone live with a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-approved paperless environment using the Maintenix software, with its new electronic signature functionality.

"It is a pleasure to work with a customer like EJM, who is constantly striving to take full advantage of the productivity improvements that Maintenix offers," said Mxi Technologies president Les Hine in a statement. "The success of such innovation in maintenance management, in the form of an entirely paperless environment, is largely driven by a customer's willingness to spend time with our team and their regulator, evaluating current processes and working together to implement best practices, and the users at EJM were immediately receptive to the advanced technology that this upgrade offered."

EJM, which has been using Maintenix since January 2000, will now be able to take advantage of an upgrade which allows for electronic records or 'e-signatures' in maintenance and engineering work, and it has cut its written job aids to seven from 28 with the use of Maintenix.

The FAA approval means Maintenix's system is secure, with all confidential information protected and kept from being altered in any unauthorized way, and that its procedures have been incorporated into EJM's operations manual. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board have determined that they are also able to review all electronic records and information when necessary, and upon request.
