Tech industry job seekers have a new Web-based avenue that brings all the tech jobs available in Ottawa together at a single location.
The new job site, at www.techjobsottawa.com, has been up and running for two weeks and currently lists more than 1,000 job openings in the National Capital region.
The site is the creation of JobArrow Solutions of Richmond, B.C.
The service uses search software to scour the Internet for career and job postings at local high tech companies. Clicking on a link at the site takes the user directly to the career page of the company posting the job. The listings include jobs from various high tech employers, as well as opportunities with local IT staffing companies such as Fujitsu and Eagle Professional Resources.
"We wanted one place where tech professionals could go (to find jobs)," says JobArrow's vice president of operations, Keith Phu.
JobArrow has operated a similar site in Vancouver since January and has since opened parallel sites for Victoria and Toronto. The Vancouver site currently lists 1,337 jobs and the site shows 1,200 tech jobs available in Toronto.
Regular listings those uncovered by the search software are free. JobArrow generates revenue by selling "premium" listings to employers who want to highlight their job posting or have it placed prominently on the site's main page.
