New York-based Cryptometrics Inc., which houses its technical research and development facility in Kanata, announced this week it has deployed its Wanted Person Face Recognition System in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The system's initial installation is in the Abu Dhabi International Airport with enrolment stations located across the UAE. As confirmed at a July 14 launch by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the system will be expanded to all ports of entry throughout the UAE, the company said in a release.
"Border security has entered the 21st century with the deployment of this technology. Countries are now capable of identifying, detecting, interdicting and preventing the entry of persons who are security or criminal risks," said chief strategy officer Joel Shaw, who led the UAE project with technology developed in the company's Ottawa facility.
CryptoMetrics produces biometric-enabled systems designed to protect critical infrastructure and key assets.
