Ottawa-based Mxi Technologies, a maker of aircraft maintenance software, has struck a deal with the Swedish Armed Forces to replace its existing maintenance software.
Mxi will supply its Maintenix software to the Swedish Defence Material Administration, which manages purchasing for the Swedish military. The product will be delivered under sub-contract to Swedish systems integrator WM-data.
Mxi has sold the same system to the U.S. Navy, the Canadian Forces and the Kuwaiti Air Force for their F-18 fighter jets. It provides capabilities for asset management, maintenance program management, maintenance planning and scheduling, configuration control, and work execution.
Many of the aircraft in the Swedish military are highly customized, creating different maintenance and material demands for aircraft that are ostensibly the same. Mxi's software is able to deal with the complexities through its multiple configurations.
"Mxi is delighted to have been selected by the Swedish Defence Material
Administration for the use of Maintenix in the Swedish Armed Forces," said Doug Brouse, CEO of Mxi Technologies. "This is a perfect match with Mxi's already successful and proven military implementations. We look forward to working side by side with the Swedish Defence Material Administration, Swedish Armed Forces, and WM-data teams throughout the implementation to ensure close collaboration and complete project success."
The software will be used to manage maintenance for the entire Swedish air force, and in support of foreign sales of the Swedish-built Gripen fighter. Sweden currently has contracts with the Hungarian and Czech military, and other contracts are in negotiation. The Swedes would eventually like to use the Mxi product in their ground and naval forces as well.
