Manuel Schiappa Pietra has joined Ottawa's FreeBalance as president and CEO.
He succeeds Bruce Lazenby, who has left the company to pursue other interests. Mr. Lazenby had been with the FreeBalance for ten years, the past five as CEO. He was a key player in opening markets in developing countries for the company's government accountability software.
A company spokesman says the decision was a mutual one between Mr. Lazenby and the board of directors.
Mr. Schiappa Pietra has more than 20 years of international management experience with IT companies in Canada, the USA, Europe, South Africa, and Latin America.
"I am honoured to be in a position to contribute to the continued success of FreeBalance and excited by the prospect of working with our customers and government leaders in the developing world to promote development and growth," Mr. Schiappa Pietra said in a statement.
Mr. Schiappa Pietra says his first priority will be a global tour to meet directly with FreeBalance customers in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
