A local body armour maker says it is cutting 30 positions due to reduced sales.
Pacific Safety Products Inc. (TSXV:PSP) is announcing the cuts about a week after revealing the company faces a big drop-off in orders from Canada.
It's being affected as federal, provincial and local governments attempt to reduce spending.
The Kanata-based company said Tuesday that layoffs will occur at its U.S. and Canadian facilities over the next week.
Pacific Safety Products said last week it expects revenue for fiscal 2010 will be as much as 28.6 per cent below the $35 million in sales reported for fiscal 2009.
CEO David Scott says the latest layoffs at the body armour maker will reduce its annual operating costs by about $1 million.
