Kinaxis's supply chain management solution has been chosen by Japanese electronics giant Pioneer Corp. to manage its mobile entertainment division, with the possibility of more deployments in other Pioneer businesses.
Ottawa-based Kinaxis said its RapidResponse service will be used in what the Tokyo-based electronic manufacturer calls its most rapidly growing business unit, which provides mobile entertainment products to automotive customers in Japan, Europe and the United States from its primary manufacturing facility in Asia.
RapidResponse will replace Pioneer's legacy supply chain planning system, Kinaxis announced today.
"The ability to make informed supply chain-related decisions on the fly is integral to maintaining the competitiveness of a company even more so for those industries that are experiencing rapid change," said Kinaxis's vice-president of marketing, Randy Littleson, in a statement. "RapidResponse uniquely combines supply chain visibility of demand and supply within a single solution, with real-time analysis and simulation capabilities that will help Pioneer to thrive within this fast-growing industry."
Kinaxis's partner, systems integrator EXA Corp., will be involved in the deployment, which is scheduled to be completed by early 2009.
The company said RapidResponse is expected to be integrated into other Pioneer divisions once it is successfully implemented in the mobile entertainment business.
