Ottawa's Black Coral Inc., a software and services company, announced Wednesday it has been selected – along with a team of other Canadian companies – to facilitate an incident management system by the Alberta Emergency Management Agency.

The company, which began work on the project this week along with companies such as Bell, Enhanced Data Solutions, AGSI and Aizan, specializes in integrated products to help first responders and military personnel adequately collaborate during emergency or tactical operations.

"We are highly energized and focused with our team members from AGSI, Bell Canada, and EDS on partnering with AEMA to meet their goal for a fully integrated, state-of-the-art emergency management system throughout the province of Alberta," said Douglas Duncan, founder and CEO of Black Coral, in a statement.

Black Coral is a privately held company that creates software solutions to facilitate "information exchange and collaboration at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels," according to the company's website.
