Fidus Systems Inc. said it has signed its third contract with a major Canadian defence contractor, bringing the total value of its wins with the customer to date to $250,000.

"We are very pleased to have signed another contract with this customer. The development work is both interesting and in an area of defence that has not widely incorporated high technology or outsourcing in the past," said Fidus CEO Michael Wakim in a statement. "It was our design experience and technology knowledge combined with our strong processes and tools that made us the right design partner for this customer."

The company said it could not disclose further details on the deal pending permission from the customer.

The deal is part of a multiple-phase development with the unnamed client, Fidus said, with follow-on contracts "currently being discussed." This latest project is scheduled to be completed by the fall.

Fidus's defence clients for electronic product design have included Defence Research and Development Canada, which worked with the company on a high-speed signal processing board for the CP-140 Aurora aircraft, and New York's Telephonics Corp., which commissioned Fidus to help create a radar system for helicopters and planes to identify ships on the high seas.
