March Networks (TSX:MN)has won a fresh deal in the United Arab Emirates, this time for its VideoSphere intelligent video management solution.
The Ottawa-based company said the Ras Al Khaimah International Airport has chosen VideoSphere to "enhance passenger and asset security" in its main terminal and adjacent facilities. The airport will use more than 100 VideoSphere encoders with embedded video analytics.
The deal is the the first for the VideoSphere solution in the Middle East, and follows two other contract wins this year in the region through March Networks's CIEFFE subsidiary, which it acquired in March.
The company's solution, which is being provided by Dubai-based partner Oasis Enterprises, is being included as part of the airport's US$16-million renovation and expansion project, which includes two new terminals, a VIP lounge, automated passenger and baggage-handling facilities, and a cargo collection centre.
"Our VideoSphere solution enables airport authorities worldwide to extend their investments in existing video infrastructure as they transition to next-generation IP (Internet protocol) video technology," said March Networks CEO Peter Strom in a statement. "We are pleased to provide Ras Al Khaimah with high-performance IP video software and systems that can meet its current and longer-term critical infrastructure security requirements."
The VideoSphere solution will provide the airport with real-time operational intelligence and advanced video management, supplementing its existing CCTV network.
The airport serves 27 airlines that fly to destinations in the Middle and Far East, Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Africa.
