Air traffic control technologies maker Searidge Technologies has won a contract with the Abu Dhabi International Airport through Searidge's Gulf region reseller.

The Ottawa-based company said the Abu Dhabi Airport Company had chosen Searidge and its partner Bayanat Airports Engineering & Supplies LLC to supply the Searidge Technologies IntelliDAR system for advanced surface surveillance.

"We are excited to be part of the explosive growth in the aviation industry in the Gulf region," said Searidge president Moodie Cheikh in a statement. "Abu Dhabi International airport is a busy airport with a reputation for deploying world-class technology and we are pleased they have selected the IntelliDAR system."

Searidge's system of digital imaging sensors coupled with computer vision technology will help air traffic controllers to detect and monitor traffic movements, eliminate blind spots and prevent crashes on the Abu Dhabi airport's newly constructed runway. The solution also provides real-time video surveillance for air traffic controllers.

This is the first contract award for Bayanat and Searidge since their partnership was formed in June.
