Smart meter maker Triacta Power Technologies Inc. has inked a distribution agreement with major multinational French energy management company Schneider Electric.
The Almonte-based company said it has signed a distribution and original equipment manufacturer deal with the electrical panel supplier, headquartered in Rueil-Malmaison in France, which will see Schneider reselling Triacta's smart meters and web-based software under the Schneider Electric and Square D brands.
Schneider Electric, which sells into 190 countries and had revenues of 17.3 billion euros in 2007, will also embed Triacta meters into its electrical panel product lines. The company has already sold Triacta products to a high-rise building with more than 300 units in New York.
"This is a milestone for Triacta," said Triacta CEO Rob Brennan in a statement. "Teaming up with Schneider Electric will boost sales and the deal gives us an important reference customer going forward."
The deal will allow Schneider Electric to offer sub-metering services in multi-tenant buildings such as office towers, condominiums and shopping centres, with its customers being able to view their energy consumption and billing information online and import tenant data directly into their finance systems.
