BelAir Networks has announced that it is helping to set up a public safety network in California, and also that it has been named a market leader based on revenue for the third consecutive quarter.
The Kanata-based provider of mobile wireless networking products said leading security electronics company ADT Security Services has deployed BelAir's wireless mesh nodes to support a video security network throughout the Port of Richmond, Calif.'s 15-square-mile (38.9 square kilometres) perimeter.
ADT is also currently installing BelAir nodes for a public safety network for the City of Richmond, also in California.
"What we are seeing today is a proliferation of successful networks that are very different from the original thinking about city-wide Wi-Fi models," stated David Park, BelAir Networks's vice-president of product marketing. "Service providers are demanding proven, high-performance, reliable and scalable wireless mesh solutions and this demand represents continued growth opportunities for BelAir Networks."
The company also announced that California-based market research company Dell'Oro Group had named BelAir as the worldwide wireless mesh node market leader based on revenue for the first quarter of 2008, making it BelAir's third consecutive period at the top of the list. The company also maintained its leadership position for units shipped in the first quarter of 2008.
