C-COM Satellite Systems Inc. has deployed its mobile satellite antenna systems in China to help with the Sichuan earthquake's relief efforts.
The Ottawa-based company said a "significant number" of its iNetVu Mobile systems, which can be mounted onto moving vehicles for high-speed Internet access in remote locations, are being used by emergency response teams in China to assist with communications.
"We are glad to be able to indirectly assist the people of Sichuan, who have been affected by this serious natural disaster," said C-COM chief executive Leslie Klein in a statement. "Our Chinese resellers and their customers are playing an instrumental role in getting the iNetVu technology to the hands of those who need it most and we are doing everything possible to provide them with support in this time of need."
C-COM added that China Central TV, which has 1.3 billion viewers, is also using one of its iNetVu units in the earthquake zone for satellite news gathering.
