SiGe Semiconductor of Ottawa and Andover, Mass. recently announced a shipping milestone of over 250 million integrated circuits, a production coup for a company that enables wireless multimedia in consumer electronics.
Company officials attributed SiGe's production volume to a portfolio consisting of wireless power amplifiers, RF front-end modules and GPS receivers, enabling "the next generation of wireless computing, home entertainment and mobile applications."
SiGe's products can be found in laptop computers, wireless access points, game consoles, PC cards and computer peripherals, as well as personal navigation devices and cell phones.
"Shipment of 250 million ICs demonstrates SiGe's ability to deliver high volumes of quality products into the demanding consumer product markets," said Sohail Khan, CEO of SiGe Semiconductor, in a statement.
"We have collaborated with our customers to determine the critical feature set for next-generation products and translated that intelligence into designs that deliver the best in performance, battery life and cost," he continued.
"We are pleased with our success, and look forward to continued collaboration with our growing customer base."
The company, which has enjoyed 40 percent year-over-year growth with 2007 revenues exceeding $69 million, said it expects its emerging portfolio of WiMAX power amplifiers and front-end modules to fuel growth over the next 12-18 months.
