Software design firm Macadamian Technologies on Wednesday announced it had completed a project to help fellow Ottawa company Formark Ltd. create its "Process-driven collaboration" software product for the Microsoft SharePoint platform.

Macadamian extended the functionality of the SharePoint platform by developing a plug-in that lets developers customize and deploy plug-ins for Formark's application, all without requiring the developer to know the intricacies of SharePoint, Macadamian said in a release today.

"SharePoint is quickly gaining traction and is poised to become one of the leading platforms for enterprise collaboration, yet few development partners have experience with SharePoint," said David Forbes, president of Formark. "Macadamian's know-how with SharePoint, and their past experience helping other independent software vendors create products that connect with SharePoint, helped us get to market sooner."

"Top-down team organization will become increasingly rare, and teams spread across time zones and continents that need to collaborate on a daily basis are becoming more commonplace," said Frederic Boulanger, president of Macadamian Technologies. "By combining the power of SharePoint and the flexibility of Formark's Process-Driven Collaboration, teams will have the tools they need to work together effectively."
