International Datacasting Corp. has confirmed a deal to supply its Internet protocol-based satellite receivers worth US$6.2-million.

The Ottawa-based company said it has successfully passed the conditions of a letter of intent previously announced on Jan. 10, which will see IDC supplying its SuperFlex DVB-IP satellite receivers to an unnamed follow-on customer.

"We are pleased that our product has successfully passed our customer's rigorous acceptance testing process. We are in full production and can now start shipping to our customer's sites," said IDC chief executive Ron Clifton in a statement. "Our ability to meet evolving and exacting customer needs like those for this specific project is key to our objective of being the preferred supplier of broadband IP multicasting systems for a wide range of applications."

The contract is for the upgrade and expansion of an international broadband data delivery network, and has a total expected gross value of approximately US$6.2 million in company's current fiscal year.

IDC is not naming the customer at this time for confidentiality reasons.
