Just one day after Dell closed its Ottawa call centre, resulting in the loss of over 1,100 jobs, U.S.-based Sitel announced the closure of its local call centre late Thursday afternoon.
The cuts will result in the loss of 300 positions by late June, the Nashville, Tenn.-based company said in a press release.
"This closure is due to the changing business needs of our client and is in no way reflective of the quality of customer care provided by our Kanata associates," said site director James Watson in the release.
Sitel, which provides call centre outsourcing services for various companies, will maintain Canadian call centres in Moncton, St. Catharines and Sudbury. It employs over 67,000 people in nearly 30 countries.
