Spartan Bioscience Inc. is teaming up with Maryland's TrimGen Corp. to sell diagnostic tools which integrate both companies' products in Canada.
Ottawa-based Spartan, which makes and markets DNA analyzers for non-batch testing of infectious diseases, said it has signed a memorandum of understanding which will see TrimGen developing real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) chemicals and kits that will run on the Spartan DXTM device. In turn, Spartan will distribute TrimGen products in Canada.
"The Spartan DX is a new instrument for on-demand molecular diagnostics. It is fast, affordable and easy-to-use. By adding TrimGen's optimized real-time PCR assays, our customers get a complete solution for rapid DNA testing," said Spartan CEO Dr. Paul Lem in a statement.
Spartan will be selling TrimGen's eQ-PCR reagents and kits, which test blood samples for infectious pathogens.
