International Datacasting Corp.'s satellite technology will be used to upgrade a New Zealand radio network.
The Ottawa-based company said AVW, its distribution partner in New Zealand, had been selected by RadioWorks to modernize the broadcaster's radio network using IDC's SuperFlex Pro Audio satellite products.
The SuperFlex Pro Audio suite will be used to implement a satellite radio distribution system for RadioWorks's stations, to more than 300 different locations throughout New Zealand.
"We are extremely proud that RadioWorks is upgrading their satellite distribution system to their stations with SuperFlex Pro Audio," said IDC chief executive Ron Clifton in a statement. "RadioWorks is an innovative radio broadcaster with strong commercial and technical leadership. This cutting-edge solution using IDC products and technologies is exciting and will make the RadioWorks network one of the most capable systems in the world."
RadioWorks, which is part of the MediaWorks NZ group of companies, operates out of 30 markets and consists of more than 10 brands on 185 frequencies across New Zealand.
As part of the deal, RadioWorks will be using IDC's SFX2102 Pro Audio satellite receiver, its over-the-satellite network management system NetManager, and Production Manager, which manages and controls the insertion of both live and recorded programming on remote receivers from the network operations centre.
