Bridgewater Systems was in full PR mode from the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Tuesday morning, announcing, among other things, a new contract in Israel.

The Ottawa-based maker of network subscriber management software said its AAA Service Controller product will be used by Israeli mobile operator Pelephone.

Pelephone, which has about 2.6 million subscribers, will use Bridgwater's product in its 1xEV-DO and UMTS networks to deliver a range of IP applications to subscribers and improve support for data roaming services.

"We recognized the Bridgewater Systems AAA Service Controller as the most scalable and robust solution of its kind, and one that is widely-deployed and proven with our key roaming partners around the world," Motti Alegresi, wireless data network manager for Pelephone, said in a statement.

"We are delighted to support Pelephone in this exciting phase of their network development," added Mike Betz, EMEA managing director of sales at Bridgewater. "In today's environment, visionary service providers such as Pelephone require solutions that help them provide a first-class subscriber experience regardless of the access technology."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Early last month, Bridgewater teamed up with another Israeli firm, Tel Aviv's Alvarion Ltd., to provide MSTelcom of Sonangol Group with advanced WiMAX solutions to support Internet-protocol (IP) wireless services throughout northern Angola.
