Air traffic control solutions maker Intelcan has won a deal to provide a radar system to South Korea.

The Ottawa-based company said it has received a contract from the Republic of Korea to provide a Mode-S Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR), which will be used to monitor air traffic in the southern region of the country.

"We are very excited about this project as it represents the first Intelcan MSSR radar installation in this part of the world," said Intelcan CEO Max Rutherford in a statement. "We were selected over many competitors because of our quality of products, the excellence of our engineers, and our reputation for delivering on-time, on-budget programs in any part of the world."

The radar system will support the Incheon and Jeju international airports.

As part of the deal, Intelcan will also provide overall radar program management, civil and engineering design services, installation and commissioning, integrated logistics support, factory and on-the-job training, and a 24-month post-installation warranty.

The system is expected to go live before the end of the year.
