Gatineau-based SolaCom Technologies has installed its voice communication control system for air traffic control towers at a Maryland airport, with its systems now installed at more than 24 sites.
The company, which makes communications solutions that enable interoperability over any network infrastructure, said that its Liberty-STAR voice communication control system (VCCS) is now operational in Easton Airport, which is located near Baltimore.
The system, which includes weather monitoring, air-to-ground communication and recording, is part of Easton's airport expansion project, which involved the construction of a new air traffic control tower.
SolaCom's system was selected by Florida-based AJT & Associates Inc. for the airport, which is the second-busiest airport in Maryland with approximately 160,000 annual aircraft operations.
The company noted that Easton is a popular hub with U.S. vice-president Dick Cheney, who flies out of the airport regularly.
SolaCom has more than 125 customers worldwide for its various products and has had its systems installed in the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and the Bahamas, among others.
