BelAir Networks had had its newest mobile broadband wireless networking product deployed in several municipal networks, allowing the cities to supply wireless Internet for public access, public works and 4.9-gigahertz public safety applications over a single mesh infrastructure.
The Ottawa-based company has just launched its BelAir 100T product, which is a cost-effective three-radio platform that delivers multi-service switched networking capabilities in a compact form.
BelAir declined to name the municipalities which have deployed its new BelAir 100T product. The company currently operates wireless networks in hundreds of deployments worldwide, including Dallas, Boston, Minneapolis, Toronto and high-profile venues such as the Lincoln Center in New York and Dolphin Stadium in Miami.
"Cities and service providers want to deploy separate and secure Wi-Fi, WiMAX and 4.9-GHz public safety networks over a single mesh infrastructure at the lowest possible cost. That's why the BelAir100T has been both a logical and innovative addition to the BelAir Networks product family," said BelAir's senior vice-president of marketing and alliances Jim Freeze. "Since initial deployments began, demand for the BelAir100T has been strong, resulting in a growing number of significant orders."
The BelAir100T product works with the company's other wireless networking products and uses the full range of BelAir radio modules, BelView NMS network management and the BelAirOS operating system. Its modular design can also be configured with radios from certified third-party suppliers under the control of BelAirOS and BelViewNMS, allowing for uninterrupted service as users move throughout the wireless mesh network.
