Wireless components maker SiGe Semiconductor has reported a revenue increase of more than 50 per cent to $48 million for its fiscal 2006.
The privately held producer of radio-frequency (RF) front-end solutions attributed the gains to strong sales momentum, a 30-per-cent year-over-year increase in shipments to more than 64 million components, as well as to the launch of several first-in-industry products.
SiGe also pointed to several new design wins, including the popular Nintendo Wii video game console and two Samsung Internet-protocol (IP) phones.
As well, SiGe reported that the market share for wireless WLAN power-amplifier front-end solutions had increased as a result of its partnership with global semiconductor company Broadcom.
Broadcom has integrated SiGe's power-amplifier front-ends into reference designs for two of its wireless products.
"I am extremely pleased with the progress SiGe made in 2006 as we continue to enable the world's most innovative and demanding wireless consumer products," said SiGe chief financial officer William Burke in a statement, adding that the mobility solutions enabled by the company's products are becoming increasing important for consumers. "Our focus for 2007 continues to be revenue and market-share growth, further integration of our solutions, innovations that enable our customers' applications and continued development of our GSP and WiMax portfolios."
The company did not disclose its net earnings.
