IT management and security services company Embotics has closed a new financing round from Tera Capital Corporation and several undisclosed private investors, which it will use to bring its first product to market and hire new staff.

The Ottawa-based company said it could not disclose how much funding it had received for competitive reasons, but Embotics CEO Jay Litkey said it was a seven-figure number.

"This is a significant amount for the company," said Mr. Litkey. "It will allow us to bring our first product to market to tier-one companies, to continue work with our partners AMD and IBM, and to facilitate our hiring ramp."

Embotics will be hiring around 15 new software engineers, Mr. Litkey said.

The financing will be the second round of funding for the company, and also its second investment from Tera Capital. The company said Tera Capital was investing in Embotics again due to "strong customer demand, rapid growth of IT infrastructure complexity and industry regulations."

"We're very pleased that Tera Capital has chosen to stand by our company, and has brought in some really top-name private investors this time round as well," said Mr. Litkey.

Tera Capital called the Embotics offering an "attractive investment."

"The industry is in need of an automated solution that provides an easier way to manage and secure server environments for enterprises," said Tera founding principal and Embotics board of directors member Howard Sutton. "The Embotics offering has made this a very attractive investment for us, enabling a product that underscores our belief in the company's approach to solving system complexity and governance issues for its customers."
