HR community honours top 10 best workplaces

Ottawa's human resources community today honoured 10 local employers with the inaugural Employers of Distinction awards.
The awards were given to the top 10 companies with strong employee engagement, good relationships between workers and immediate management, and solid leadership. The results were based on a new survey of more than 45 Ottawa-area organizations.
This year's winners are:
Chipworks: Supports intellectual property industry by finding evidence of patent infringement and doing competitive studies on microelectronics systems.
Classic Care Pharmacy Corp.: Pharmacy service provider for long-term care and retirement homes.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car: Rental car company
Fidus Systems Inc.: Electronic design services
Harris Computer Services: Technology service provider specializing in IT outsourcing and technology and telephony solutions.
Interis Consulting Inc.: Management consulting firm with a focus on providing advice to large, complex organizations like government agencies or financial institutions.
KPMG Ottawa: Provider of audit, tax, and advisory services
Macadamian Technologies Inc.: Software engineering and outsourcing firm which helps companies develop their software products from start to finish.
Newgate 180: Not-for-profit, fee-for-service provider of addiction counselling, prevention and treatment.
The WORKS Gourmet Burger Bistro: Small neighbourhood chain of gourmet burger bistros
The awards ceremony, which was co-organized by the Ottawa HR Forum, the Ottawa Business Journal and Talentmap, was held at the Congress Centre during the two-day human resources conference and tradeshow.
Interviews with each winning company will be published in Ottawa HR magazine, which will be included with copies of the Ottawa Business Journal on Nov. 13.
