The recent unveiling of a social media channel in Ottawa promises to give the high tech community a new convenient source for information.

The Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation has partnered with market2world communications inc. to launch OCRIRadio.com, which will utilize the latest in podcasting, blogging and other technologies. This social media initiative creates user-generated content where additions, archiving and searches can easily take place.

"A key part of OCRI's mandate is to showcase Ottawa as a technology hub, both locally and internationally," says Jeffrey Dale, the centre's president. "OCRIRadio.com gives our members a leading edge channel and platform on which dynamic conversations can take place and new business opportunities created."

Along with regularly updated blogs by OCRI members and executives, the centerpiece of the channel is a monthly, 40-minute podcast show, which can be subscribed to and/or automatically downloaded for listening at the time of the user's choosing. The podcasts include interviews with members of both the global and Ottawa technology communities that are accessed by clicking on the Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed button. The show is co-hosted by Mr. Dale and Nathan Rudyk, president of market2world.

Guests on this month's premiere podcast includes interviews with John Kelly, chairman of NexInnovations and co-chair of the 2014 Ottawa Commonwealth Games Bid, and Andrew Waitman, who is managing partner of Celtic House Venture Partners.
