Ottawa-based Seprotech Systems has renewed a service contract with the Canadian Forces to repair and overhaul the Army's portable drinking water system.
The company says the contract should be worth about $1 million in revenue over the next 12 months.
"We are delighted that the government has decided to extend this contract," says Septrotech president and CEO Gilles Turcotte.
"We worked hard and demonstrated to the government that Seprotech has the ability to do this work and to do it well. This project had been mired in legal issues precipitated by a competitor for several years, and our ongoing performance has proven, beyond any doubt, that Seprotech is fully qualified to provide the military with superior service support."
The water purification system is used by the Canadian Forces to supply drinking water to its own personnel as well as to civilian populations. The system is approximately seven metres long and is designed to produce potable water from heavily contaminated water sources.
"We consider ourselves to be extremely privileged to be able to support the Canadian Forces for this mission critical item of equipment," says chairman Justin Connidis. "The Canadian Forces have been a valued customer for many years and we are delighted that we continue to share their confidence."
