Ottawa-based startup Spotwave Wireless Inc. announced a deal with Telus Corp. on Monday to help the phone giant address the challenge of delivering clear wireless signals through concrete and steel.
Under the terms of the deal, Telus' national sales team will offer Spotwave's products to business customers of the Mike cellular network operated by Telus Mobility.
Spotwave's flagship product is the SpotCell repeater, an out-of-the-box product meant to boost a wireless signal in buildings with heavy glass, steel and concrete infrastructure that reduces reception.
The SpotCell will be marketed to business customers who rely on their cell phones and require a reliable service at all times.
Financial terms of the exclusive multi-year deal were not released.
"Our business clients across Canada who depend on Mike expect consistent, reliable coverage not only when they are on the road, but also when they are in hard-to-reach areas in their own and other buildings, like parking garages and basements," Robert Blumenthal, VP of products and services at Telus, said in a statement.
Spotwave announced a similar deal last September with U.S. Cellular, a key player in the U.S. wireless market with four million customers in 25 states.
